Sterilight UV Sterilizer Lamp:
All Sterilight UV systems include an ultraviolet lamp surrounded by a quartz sleeve. The lamp’s output decreases over time, requiring replacement.
Quartz Sleeve:
All Sterilight UV systems include a quartz sleeve that surrounds the lamp. Viqua’s quartz sleeves are made of 100% fused silica, which lends to the sleeve’s high transmittance. A high transmittance is important as the UV light must travel through the sleeve to reach the water.

- The quartz sleeve will require periodic cleaning if water contains any hardness, minerals (calcium or magnesium), iron, or manganese.
- UV lamp replacement is a quick and straightforward procedure requiring no special tools. To ensure adequate disinfection, replace the lamp after 9000 hours of continuous operation (approximately annually).
- The volume of UV light created by the UV lamp lowers over time, requiring its replacement.
- The system automatically notifies you when it is time to replace the UV lamp.
- Quartz sleeve replacement/maintenance: Naturally occurring minerals in the water gradually build a layer on the quartz sleeve. This layer must be removed as it limits the amount of UV light reaching the water, lowering the effectiveness of disinfection.
- If the quartz sleeve cannot be cleaned, it must be replaced.
