Filtered Water in Your Recreational Vehicle
When traveling around the state or the country in a RV you might not always know where you will be getting the water from or what might be in it. Water that is stored in a RV holding tank will not stay potable for long and can become a breeding ground for algae and bacteria.
Water filtration can also prevent water spots forming on the finish after washing an automobile. Minerals like calcium and magnesium are in “hard water” and cause these spots. A system or filter with water softening capabilities is a solution to water spots.
Systems for RV Water Filtration:
Under Sink Systems
Under sink water filters remove contaminants from water like a reverse osmosis (RO) systems but leave in minerals like calcium and fluoride.
Everpure Residential
At only pennies per gallon, Everpure systems are less expensive per glass than bottled water or other drinking water systems and provide about a year’s supply of water, depending on the size of your family and the amount of water you drink. All Everpure systems use easy to replace cartridges.
Portable Gravity Filters
If you’re going camping in an RV for a short period of time and simply need drinking water, a portable gravity filter might be an easier solution to an installed system. Gravity filters require no power and use ceramic filters to remove chlorine and bacteria from water.
Ceramic Cartridges
Ceramic water filters are an inexpensive and effective type of water filter, that rely on the small pore size of ceramic material to filter dirt, debris, and bacteria out of water. Doulton ceramic filter particles from the water but leaves oxygen and mineral contents unchanged, which gives water it’s spring-like freshness and taste (not “pure” but wholesome).
Filter Housings
If you only want a single filter cartridge you will need a filter housing(s) to hold the cartridge(s). The best choice is the Pentek 150558 (pictured to the right), featuring a clear body so you’ll know when you need to change you cartridge and a pressure release button.
